And...back to UofM

Tyler had a rough night. When I saw him, yesterday afternoon, he had just taken some pain meds and gone to sleep. He woke up abruptly, though, and started getting pretty sick. I left so Michelle and Grandma Didi could take care of him. He then started spiking a high fever that wouldn't break. So, the doctors wanted him to come and get checked out. They ended up admitting him again last night.

He's pretty mad about having to be there for "just a fever", he said. Praying that it will break and they can get him back home again. 

Thank you again for your continued prayers and concerns for Tyler. Watching him suffer this way for the past year has been unbearable at times. We're thankful that you all are continuing to lift him and our family up in prayers. May the God of peace and comfort continue to surround Tyler and this family on this road of suffering. God bless!

Home Again!

Tyler was finally able to come home earlier this week!! He is still mostly sleeping these days. Michelle has now kicked in to full-time nurse mode. Please keep them in your prayers!

Update and Fundraiser Info

Tyler continues to battle on. He has his bad days and his okay days. For the most part, they have his pain under control. He's on a LOT of medication to make that happen. They are continuing to experiment with different chemos, but still, none have caused the tumor to shrink. They are still trying to get him home. Every week, they set a new day of that week as their goal. But, Tyler is just too sick to be released at this point. Sometimes it's his blood counts, sometimes the pain and sometimes it's a fever. Poor kid has a lot going on.

If you've been keeping up with his story, you know he has been in the hospital for over a year now. He did have a brief 10 day release to go home in July, but had to come back due to complications. Tyler will be 19 on October 28th. He has spent his entire 18th year of life in a hospital bed. He's such a brave kid, who is full of silent endurance. I've rarely heard him complain and never once has he wanted to give up this fight. No matter what the doctors tell him about this outcome, no matter how much pain he suffers from, he still keeps going. He's brave.

His mom is brave too. Always by his side, encouraging him not to give up. Sacrificing everything to be by her son night and day. She's sick of the hospital. She wants to be home, but still she waits by his side. She stays sleeping in a chair next to him, each night.

Pain is back

Tyler is back in a lot of pain this week. They have been trying to get him home, but he's been needing platelets and blood, which was preventing him from going home. Now, the pain is back. Can you please pray for Tyler's pain to decrease? Today they are thinking that it might be kidney stones with where the pain is and how acutely it is coming. Please pray for comfort for him. He is back on the pain pump, which is helping a little, but not all the way so they are increasing the dose. Pray that the stones will go away and he can get some relief.

Don't forget to pray for his mama too.

No big changes to report

Sorry for the lack of updates over the last couple of weeks. Not much has changed for Tyler. His pain levels are remaining low, around a 3. He's had some nausea and random fevers here and there. They did a CT Scan last week and there were no changes to report. They have decided to switch up his chemo again. He started that later last week, and so far, nothing significant to report on that either. 

The doctors are working towards getting Tyler home. It looks like he may need to get his kidney stints replaced, but he has to be fever free for 48 hours to do that. So, they are hoping to do that sometime this week. Tyler has ordered up some new video games that he is itching to get home and play. His main doctor had to remind the residents last week that "This is not Tyler's home!", that they need to be focusing on plans that get him home. Michelle was happy to hear that they are seeing things her way on that, finally.
